"Principled", "maverick" "reformer" John McCain, in his own words:

I didn’t decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. . . . In truth, I’d had the ambition for a long time.

From his 2002 memoir Worth the Fighting For.

Given that McCain is now running his campaign as a grand patriot on a national crusade for political reform, if I was running the Obama campaign (or an Obama-supporting 527 group) I'd be running a whole load of ads consisiting of just that quote.

OK, that's enough armchair spin doctoring I think. We now return you to your normal service of elderly youtube links and half-baked burblings.
