So, I saw Sunshine last night. This film had a scientific consultant? Wow. I guess the film makers didn't listen to Dr Brian Cox very much. Still, if you ignore your inner furry-toothed nerd and just enjoy the film for what it is then it's a good watch. Very, very pretty and tense throughout. Recommended viewing, although The Fountain is a much better film if you want beautiful, intelligent and emotional skiffy.

Fun fact: apparently, Brian Cox's missus and Sunshine blog admin Gia Milinovich thinks that annoyingly evangelistic environmentalists are the equivalent of violent mass-murderers!

After I saw The Fountain, I actually signed up to IMDB and had this to say, to a poster who was all tortured about the 'meaning' of the film:

'Please don't bother. Since your questions are reasoned enough, the fact that you need to raise so many proves this film is an unholy mess. The people who attempt to answer these issues mistake woolly thinking and lack of structure for profundity, and are probably busy reading Paulo Coelho the rest of the time.'

So there.

But it's so pretty!

Besides, I thought the meaning of the film was pretty simple: "We all die, mate, let it go!"
