Hello Archie
At 12.06 lunchtime today, my son was born. Ladies and Gennelmen, this is Archie Robert Jones:

Anyway: 5 lbs 9 oz, healthy as is mum - home birth despite our plans for a hospital birth (he's awkward like his mum), labour under 6 hours.
I'm off now: can't talk - gazin'.

Missing Benefits Data
I think the most worrying aspect of this incident, brought to light in the email exchange, is that someone in the highest levels of the Civil Service sends their email in Comic Sans. I think that's indicative of the level of premiere league muppetry we've seen here all right.

Unclear on the concept
Robert S. Wolff, one of the country’s pre-eminent bridge players, who has served as an executive and board member of several bridge organizations, said that he understood that the women might have had a legal right to do what they did but that they had offended many people.
“While I believe in the right to free speech, to me that doesn’t give anyone the right to criticize one’s leader at a foreign venue in a totally nonpolitical event,”.

CSS Animation
So, I hear via Daring Fireball that the WebKit Open Source project are talking about creating a way to specify animation effects in CSS.
Would it be curmudgeonly of me to grumble about how the and tags looked horrible in 1995 and their 2008 equivalents will look no better?
Yes, I suppose it would.

This was a triumph
So, yesterday I finished Portal, and then I went back and replayed the final boss level six times on the trot so that I could hear the absolutely fantastic song it plays to you at the end.
Then, by one of those quirks of synchronicity, when I went for a shufty at Internet Jesus today he had a youtube embed of it as his latest entry.
It makes sense to learn that it's by Jonathan Coulton of Code Monkey and Re: Your Brains fame. The man appears to be some kind of songwriting genius.

Dear Sainsburys ...
... On 31st October, the contents of your "Seasonal" aisle should relate to Halloween, not FUCKING CHRISTMAS.
Duck Butter
It's aparently what Michael Jackson called spangle/population paste/jitler when he was plying the kids with Jesus Juice. We know a song about that!
