US Right Wing: "Sun revolves around the Earth"
May 23, 2007
No, really. Seriously! That's what they're saying:
If you ask me, that settles the question right there. I support the Bible, and I don’t want my children learning about Heliocentrism in school. I think this doctrine encourages atheism, Darwinism, and anti-Americanism. I don’t want my tax dollars going to finance this kind of false science. It’s complete rot, and I hope that those of us who come to realize this can ultimately prevail against its propogation amongst OUR children with the money from OUR salaries.
I also love the assertion that biblical scripture is "evidence" that is as strong as empirical observation. Beautiful. I just can't wait until they get going on pushing Flat Earth theory. On this evidence it can't be long now!
Like I said here, t's a race between satire and reality, and satire is losing.
UPDATE: I notice in their comments that apparently the website they cite in support of their fixed-earth theory is also a Holocaust denial site (apparently NASA is part of a Jewish conspiracy). Which leads to this hilarious line:
But if you want an apology from us, fine: we apologize that sometimes people who are correct about one thing are incorrect about another. The Holocaust denials on the Fixed Earth website are insane; nevertheless, the fact remains that the Earth does not move.
(emphasis mine).

ffs, this is getting worrying now, spose where this goes depends on the next presidential elections.
On a slightly different but equally as unsettling point, I've heard a few times recently that there's a high school in Kirklees that allows the 'Church' of Scientology to delivery elements of the Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education syllabus - this shit is closer than you think.

You WHAT? Which one? Shite on a slippery stick we've got to do something about that, or at least get the Church of the SubGenius in on the act.
