The Sunday Times food critic, AA Gill, has elevated smug self-admiration to an art form. This sneering snob has emerged at the forefront of a new generation of self-consciously opinionated media cunts, alongside vile contemporaries such as Tony Parsons and Will Self.

The preening cunt's column is, of course, pretentious nonsense. Yet the printed medium is insufficient to convey the extent of his rampant vanity. A man who loves the sound of his own voice so wholeheartedly is tailor-made for late night smugfest TV discussion programmes chaired by the likes of Ruby Wax, and AAG has been taking every opportunity to grace us with his presence on the small screen.

Witness, for example, his appearances on the BBC's Question Time, relishing a live television format in which his seemingly endless waffling cannot be humanely curtailed by editing. He is reported to have been personally confronted by a fellow Celebrity Cunt, Gary Rhodes, after a particularly unflattering review of the hissy TV chef's new restaurant - a cunt clash of seismic proportions.
